Kurt Angle defeated Bobby Roode
In a Farewell Tour Match, Kurt Angle went head to head with one of TNA’s best in Bobby Roode. Angle and Roode gave us one hell of a bout. From 5 German Suplexes in a row to a Roode Bomb reversal into an ankle lock and everything in between, these two men put on a clinic in technical wrestling. Angle goes for an Ankle Lock, but Roode counters with a enziguri and then hits a Roode Bomb for two. Bobby Roode goes for another Roode Bomb, but Angle gets Roode to tap out to the Ankle Lock.
With these matches, you know that they are there just for entertainment. There is no real storyline aside from counting down to Kurt’s final matches. With that being said, some of these bouts show you that, somehow, Kurt still performs at a top level. The guy consistently builds the match in terms of drama, technicality and skill. He is not going up top and hitting a moonsault each week, but he has developed a rotation of moves and skills to add to each differing opponent. Tonight was a great match for both men. Bobby Roode just gets “it.” He gets how to work and when to go full force at the right time. Timing is everything and this was a great match for Impact to kick off with. A Legend gets a great response from the crowd, from Beer Money and from the Wolves. Good stuff.
