The first American wrestlers officially signed to contracts with El Rey for their upcoming Lucha Underground series are Ricky Reyes and B-Boy. Both stars have been working all around the U.S. and internationally for years, and are well known in the Los Angeles area where Pro Wrestling Guerrilla is filmed, and where the new El Rey series will be taped.
As we reported last night, they are also reaching out to several former WWE and TNA stars, including John Morrison, Chavo Guerrero, and Hernandez, as well as Ricochet of DGUSA and EVOLVE.
One of the big issues being talked about is that El Rey wants to lock down its talent with potentially long-term contracts that would see them as exclusive members of their roster, unable to work anywhere else. If the promotion takes off and is a success, that might not be a huge issue in terms of money coming in, but with so many unknowns, and wording in the contracts being so ambiguous, there are obvious concerns. Several wrestlers are working with wrestler-turned-attorney Andre Verdun to work out something mutually beneficial for all parties involved.
