The WWE Hall of Fame will take one major step up this year with the inclusion of Bruno Sammartino. It’s long overdue and being a likely spectator of the event that Saturday night at Madison Square Garden, I can tell you that it will certainly be a highlight of WrestleMania weekend, for me anyway.
This year’s class is already shaping up to be one of the best of all time. There’s no better option in the Diva category than Trish. Bob Backlund, having held the WWE Championship for the third longest time in history, joining Bruno who sits at number one in that category. And who can forget Mick Foley, guaranteed (in my mind) to steal the night with his acceptance speech.
I think Larry Z. would be the perfect guy to induct Bruno, in case they’re looking for suggestions.
A lot of credit is being given, and rightfully so, to Triple H. Whether Vince McMahon’s pride or ego prevented him from getting this done in years past, or whether it was Bruno needing someone/anyone but Vince to do business with, Hunter stepped up and got the deal done.
So many people speculate about the future of the WWE once Vince McMahon is finally out of the picture. Personally, and despite what Bret Hart might say, I feel confident the company will be just fine when left in Hunter’s hands. He’s already proving that now.
