Released WWE Star Teases In-Ring Return

A recently released WWE Superstar is teasing an in-ring return.

Following WrestleMania 42, WWE released several main roster and developmental talent as a cost-cutting measure. Some of the notable names the promotion cut include Kari Sane, Aleister Black, Zelina Vega, the Motor City Machine Guns, and the entire Wyatt Sicks.

Joe Gacy was part of the Wyatt Sicks, playing the Huskus the Pigboy character from Bray Wyatt’s Firefly Funhouse. Despite getting a solid introduction, the group had a lackluster run in WWE, and not even a tag team title reign could solidify their spots.

WWE released them on April 24, and now, Joe Gacy is teasing an in-ring return on X/Twitter. He posted a clip with no audio, styled like an old film reel, prominently displaying the date “7 24 2026,” which marks the end of the 90-day waiting period before he could compete for other promotions.

A recent report from Fightful (via Fightful Select) clarified (through lawyer Michael Dockins) that the talent WWE recently released are not under 90-day non-compete clauses, and they are still under contract for this period. The waiting period they’re currently serving is reportedly the 90-day “right of termination and requisite notice,” which is 30 days for NXT talent.

Joe Gacy signed with WWE in 2020 and made his in-ring debut the following year. He had an interesting NXT run as the leader of the Schism before he got called up to the main roster in 2024. He has an impressive resume on the independent circuit as he’s a three-time CZW World Heavyweight Champion. It will be interesting to see where he ends up next.
