The April 28, 2026, episode of WWE NXT featured a chaotic segment as three different debutant threats confronted NXT Champion Tony D’Angelo. Two of them even landed their attacks on the champion.
D’Angelo started the segment with a promo. He talked about how NXT has evolved rapidly in recent weeks, with many top stars moving to RAW and SmackDown. He also said he is the one holding things together. D’Angelo brushed off new challengers and asserted that the mysterious box he received the week before remained his priority.
Multiple stars debut on WWE NXT and take out Tony D’Angelo
Just as he hinted that the box was more of a warning than a gift, the lights suddenly went out.
When the lights came back with a dark blue and purple glow, EVIL finally made his debut. The former IWGP Heavyweight Champion slowly walked to the ring and stood face-to-face with Tony D’Angelo without saying a word. He then handed him a rolled piece of cloth that connected to the earlier mystery box angle.
Without resorting to violence, EVIL left the ring. But the chaos didn’t stop there.
Right after that, Tavion Heights rushed in and landed a belly-to-belly suplex on D’Angelo. The sudden attack left the champion helpless. With that, Heights also made it clear that he wants a shot at the title.
But the action wasn’t over yet. Before things could settle, a person in a black hoodie jumped into the ring and hit a moonsault on D’Angelo, who was already down after the suplex. At first, the person was thought to be a fan. The commentators also didn’t recognize or name his identity.
However, he was later identified as Will Kroos, a wrestler from the British indie scene, known for working in promotions like Progress Wrestling. His involvement adds an interesting twist. WWE doesn’t allow fans to interfere during a match. So this could be a new kind of storyline where the lines between fan and wrestler are blurred.
By the end of the segment, three very different challengers confronted D’Angelo. Moreover, two of them made their nefarious intentions well known. In just one night, WWE introduced three serious threats to D’Angelo.
This all comes at a time when NXT is rebuilding after many call-ups following WrestleMania 42. Earlier in the episode, Shawn Michaels, Robert Stone, and Matt Bloom had talked about creating big opportunities to find the next breakout star, and this segment showed exactly that.
