Former WWE CEO Linda McMahon has spoken about her future in politics and revealed her thoughts on a presidential run.
After helping build WWE into a global brand, McMahon entered public service in 2009, joining the Connecticut State Board of Education. She later ran for the Senate in 2010 and 2012 but didn’t win either time.
Her connection with Trump played a big role in her political career. In 2017, she became the head of the Small Business Administration and served until 2019. Later, she returned to the cabinet as Secretary of Education.
However, when asked if she ever thought about becoming president, she immediately shut it down, saying it’s not something she wants to do.
Linda McMahon says she has no plans to run for President
McMahon shared her thoughts on a presidential run during her recent appearance on the Planet Tyrus podcast. Even though her experience could have led her in that direction, she said she is happy with where she is.
“Oh my gosh, no. No, no, no, no. That is definitely not in my future. Definitely not. I’m very, very happy with what I’m doing. I’m very happy to be, you know, you think about this for me, a little girl from New Bern, North Carolina. I just grew up in a very humble, middle-class family, and only child, great parents. Just one of those wonderful childhood kind of things. But never dreamed ever that I would be in the president’s cabinet. Let alone the opportunity to serve twice,” McMahon said.
She also shared what it’s like working at that level. Sitting in meetings with top officials like Marco Rubio still feels surreal to her at times, and she sometimes pauses to take it all in.
“And there’s still pinchable moments for me. I mean, I’m sitting in the cabinet room and I’m listening to the president and Marco Rubio and doing they’re doing briefings on Iran and all of this stuff that…And I’m thinking, ‘You know, you’re really part of this real life history.’ And it’s really a pinchable moment to look around and think, ‘Well, that’s the secretary of war, that’s a secretary of this, that, and the other, and I’m going and me and so…it’s incredible,” McMahon added.
She has even said she would be okay being the last person in her role if the Department of Education is eventually shut down.
