MJF opens up on why he might never leave AEW.
Reigning AEW World Champion MJF recently spoke to Adrian Ochoa of ABC 7 KVIA and explained why he might never leave AEW for any other promotion. He shared that his ability to be himself is what keeps him in Tony Khan’s company.
MJF noted that there’s no leash on him in AEW, and that Tony Khan knows he’s a draw. He also said he doesn’t have to worry about anyone sitting him down and telling him what he’s doing is right or wrong, which might or might not be a subtle dig at the clip of Triple H reprimanding LA Knight from WWE: Unreal Season 2.
“What keeps me in AEW is my ability to be myself. There’s no leash on me. I don’t have to worry about anybody sitting me down and telling me what I’m doing right or wrong,” MJF said. “My boss knows I’m the draw. I have the world title right now, ratings are up, ticket sales are up, I wonder why, and he lets me do my thing. So, I don’t think I’ll ever leave.”
MJF calls AEW’s main event scene the best in company history
Speaking in an interview with Self Made Pro, MJF, in character, put over AEW’s growth and the quality of the current main event scene, saying he’s responsible for all of it.
“We are up year-over-year in ticket sales by a wide margin. We’re up year-over-year in ratings by a wide margin. We’ve got more momentum than we’ve had in years. I don’t think it’s an unfair thing for me to say.”
“It’s all because of me. And I don’t think it’s an unfair thing for me to say right now, point blank, and I know you three are big fans of All Elite Wrestling since day one. I’ve been a part of the company since day one. This is not hyperbolic. This is the best the main event scene has ever been in the history of the company,” MJF said. [H/T: wrestlingnews.co]
