A TNA star walked into NXT New Year’s Evil with a new cosmetic upgrade.
Reigning TNA X-Division Champion Leon Slater made headlines last night not only for his NXT Championship match against Oba Femi, but also sporting an upgraded smile. He previously had a chipped tooth and a visible gap in his front teeth. Fans were quick to notice that he arrived at NXT with perfectly straight and bright teeth, possibly a result of getting dental veneers.
Fans are already speculating that the TNA star is WWE-bound, and the bright new teeth might be a sign that he’s preparing himself to step into the brighter spotlight of WWE. Fans also compared Leon Slater’s new dental upgrade to Roman Reigns, joking that he might’ve visited the same dentist as the Tribal Chief for veeners.
While he walked into NXT New Year’s Evil with a new smile, the TNA X-Division Champion couldn’t walk out with one as he failed to defeat Oba Femi for the NXT Championship in the main event. Femi then placed the title belt in the middle of the ring after the match, seemingly vacating the title ahead of a potential main roster call-up.
Leon Slater Commented On Competing At John Cena’s Last Show As A TNA Star
Leon Slater teamed up with Je’Von Evans to take on AJ Styles and Dragon Lee in one of the exhibition contests at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event on December 13, 2025, which featured John Cena’s retirement match.
Speaking on The A2theK Wrestling Show ahead of the match, Leon Slater opened up on being featured on the same card as John Cena‘s final match as a TNA star.
“It’s wild,” Leon Slater admitted. “It’s another one of these things that almost feels like it’s just perfectly slotted into place for me, you know? But the fact that it’s not just any Saturday Night’s Main Event. It’s John Cena’s last ever final appearance as an in-ring competitor, is absolutely crazy. And obviously, there’s very limited spots on that card.
“The fact that I don’t even work for WWE. I’m still a TNA talent. And I’m on a main roster PLE. One of the biggest of the year is just, I think, a testament to the wild year that I’ve had. And, of course, it’s with AJ Styles as well, which makes it even crazier.”
