Stephanie Vaquer might be injured.
Former NXT Women’s Champion Stephanie Vaquer has been out of action since July 28, when she competed in an all-star tag match on WWE Raw. On Monday, Raw General Manager Adam Pearce then revealed that Vaquer was unable to come to Raw in Milwaukee (though she still made a surprise appearance on WWE NXT the following night). Per a new report, Vaquer may currently be dealing with an injury.
According to Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio, Vaquer has a minor injury. Regarding her odd absence from Raw this week, Meltzer noted that he didn’t know the whole story behind it, but WWE officials did tell him that her injury is “nothing to worry about” and that she’d be wrestling once again soon. Co-host Bryan Alvarez indicated that he heard that Vaquer actually had no injury.
Nevertheless, Vaquer is scheduled to return to action on next week’s episode of NXT as she, Rhea Ripley, and Tiffany Stratton take on Fatal Influence (Jacy Jayne, Fallon Henley, and Jazmyn Nyx). This match will come as part of NXT Homecoming, a TV special blending figures from NXT’s past and present. It will emanate from Full Sail University, which hosted NXT programming for several years.
Days later, Vaquer will vie for the vacant WWE Women’s World Championship at WWE Wrestlepalooza, with IYO SKY as her opponent. Naomi relinquished the title last month due to pregnancy.
Update: Vaquer has since commented on this report, claiming she is not injured.
