AEW Dynamite Results:

Tonight’s episode of Dynamite kicks off with the face-to-face confrontation between MJF and AEW World Champion Hangman Page. Friedman says Page is at his most vulnerable when he’s angry, and he intends to make him so angry that he’ll lose his title at his first pay-per-view defense.

Hangman asks MJF if he understands what he went through to get this title, and says he’s not going to let Friedman cost him his title. Page says he’s not going to let MJF goad him into giving him a title shot. Hangman says he will only give him a title shot if he earns it or cashes in his contract.

MJF says good and bad are a matter of perspective and says Hangman is the problem, not him. Friedman says the fans put Hangman on a pedestal and he can do nothing wrong, so screw him and screw their god. MJF says he will show the world that Page is nothing more than a fraud.

Friedman says, unlike Page, at least he’s real. MJF says he’s going to crucify Hangman at Forbidden Door. Page says he understands the points MJF is trying to make, but no one understands his faults more than he does. Hangman says he owns up to his faults, and he won’t run away from them like MJF does.

Hangman wins the war of words over MJF

Page says he won’t cash in his contract because he’s afraid, and he wants to have an insurance policy because he knows he can’t beat him. Hangman tells MJF to sign the contract and prove to everyone that he’s not an immature, gutless coward.

MJF gets heated and declares that he’s executing his contract against Hangman Page at Forbidden Door. Friedman immediately looks like he regrets what he said as the crowd chants, “You f*cked up!” Page says he’ll see MJF at Forbidden Door and calls him a dumbass while Friedman has a temper tantrum in the ring.

We get a recap of what Darby Allin did to Jon Moxley and the Death Riders last week. The show shifts outside to Jon Moxley, Wheeler Yuta, and Marina Shafir. Moxley says whatever Darby Allin thinks is happening at Forbidden Door isn’t happening.

Jon Moxley (w/ Marina Shaifr and Wheeler Yuta) vs. Kevin Knight (w/ Mike Bailey)

  • The finish of the match saw Jon Moxley lock Kevin Knight in a grounded inverted sleeperhold to score the win via submission.

Winner: Jon Moxley

The Death Riders attack JetSpeed after the match, and this brings out Darby Allin. The distraction gave JetSpeed a chance to attack Moxley as Allin attacks Yuta with his skateboard and puts Yuta in another bodybag. Allin goes for a Coffin Drop, but Claudio Castagnoli hits the ring and attacks him. Castagnoli puts Allin in the bodybag and spins him around before dropping him to the mat.

Yuta and Castagnoli take Allin out of the bag and put the chair around his head to snap his neck. This brings back the surprise return of Will Ospreay, who saves Allin and challenges Moxley and his team to a Lights Out Steel Cage match at Forbidden Door.

Grade: A-

This was a very fun match. You can tell Moxley is in his own world when he’s wrestling in Cincinnati, and this was an incredibly entertaining match. Back-to-back weeks, Mox has had bangers with both members of JetSpeed. Amazing how much better he’s gotten in-ring-wise after they took the title off of him.

We get a recap package on the rivalry between Adam Copeland, FTR, and Stokely Hathaway.

Toni Storm and Athena watch the next matchup from different spots in the crowd.

Mercedes Moné, Thekla, and Skye Blue (w/ Julia Hart) vs. Alex Windsor, Queen Aminata, and Willow Nightingale

  • The finish of the match saw Alex Windsor put Skye Blue in the Sharpshooter to win the match for her team via submission.

Winners: Alex Windsor, Queen Aminata, and Willow Nightingale

After the match, Storm and Athena brawl in the crowd while the six women in the ring continue to brawl as well. Storm and Athena make their way to ringside. Windsor and Storm lay out Moné and Athena. Storm challenges Moné and Athena to a tag match next week in Scotland.

Grade: B+

They did a lot for the women’s division in this match, tackling multiple storylines at the same time. Even wrapping Storm and Athena into things without actually being in the match. This was a lot of fun and very entertaining.

The Ace joins up with Ospreay for Forbidden Door

Renee Paquette is backstage with Will Ospreay. Ospreay says he asked for the match with Tony Khan’s knowledge, but he approved the match after they talked. Ospreay reveals that so far, Darby Allin and Hiroshi Tanahashi are on his team. Paquette questions this kind of match about his neck, but Ospreay insists he’s fine. His facial change tells a different story. Ospreay tells Paquette he wants to talk to her husband next week in Scotland.

Adam Copeland vs. Stokely Hathaway

  • The finish of the match saw FTR get involved, and Stokley Hathaway throwing powder into Adam Copeland’s eyes to cause the DQ.

Winner: Adam Copeland

After the match, FTR tries to hit Copeland with a spike piledriver, but Christian Cage hits the ring with Spike to save him. Nick Wayne hits the ring with a chair, but Cage smashes the chair out of his hand with Spike. Kip Sabian tries to attack Cage, but Cope hits him with a spear.

Cage and Cope face off in the ring, and Cage hands Cope Spike back and goes to leave, but Copeland pulls him into a hug instead.

Grade: B+

This was much more about the story during and after the match than the actual match itself. Cage and Cope being aligned is long overdue, and I can’t wait to see them against FTR at All Out next month.

All Star 8-Man Tag: Kyle Fletcher, Josh Alexander, and the Young Bucks vs. Brody King, Hologram, Tomohiro Ishii, and Hiromu Takahashi

  • The finish of the match saw Hiromu Takahashi plant Josh Alexander with the Timebomb to score the pinfall victory for his team.

Winners: Brody King, Hologram, Tomohiro Ishii, and Hiromu Takahashi

Grade: A

These eight-man tag matches are always a blast. Especially when the Young Bucks are involved, they just take things to the next level. This was fantastic and my favorite match on the show so far. And we’ve still got the main event to go!

Whose House…?

Renee Paquette is on the stage, and she brings out Swerve Strickland and Prince Nana. Paquette asks him about seeing the trainer earlier today, and Strickland promised he’s fine and he’s not letting anything take away his focus from Okada at Forbidden Door next weekend.

This brings out Kazuchika Okada, who faces off with Strickland. Okada says with his hurt knee, he’s got no chance and tells him to give up now. Swerve asks whose house it is, and the crowd buries Okada in “Swerve’s House” chants. Okada calls Swerve a bitch, and Strickland shoves him, which quickly leads to security separating them.

Jon Moxley and the Death Riders are backstage. Alicia Atout informs Moxley that Hiroshi Tanahashi has joined up with Ospreay and Allin and asks him who is on his team. Moxley looks upset and goes into the extras locker room, where the Young Bucks are forced to change now, and shuts the door.

Tony Schiavone is in the ring and announces that at Forbidden Door, Adam Copeland will team with Christian Cage to face Nick Wayne and Kip Sabian. Schiavone also reveals the two teams for the lights out steel cage match as Jon Moxley teams with Claudio Castagnoli, Gabe Kidd, and the Young Bucks to take on Will Ospreay, Darby Allin, Hiroshi Tanahashi, Kenny Omega, and Kota Ibushi.

AEW World Trios Champions The Opps vs. LFI

  • The finish of the match saw Samoa Joe choke out Dralistico to score the submission victory for his team.

Winners: The Opps

Grade: A-

Renee Paquette tries to get a word with Hangman Page in the parking lot, but he’s attacked and laid out by MJF as AEW Dynamite goes off the air.

AEW Dynamite Results:

This was a tremendous episode of AEW Dynamite. From top to bottom, it was either great in-ring action or major storyline building for Forbidden Door. Nothing on this show missed, in my opinion. This was AEW at its very best. Forbidden Door looks like it’s going to be an excellent show next weekend in London.

Grade: A
