Pro-Wrestling Australia continues to make history.
On June 14, Pro-Wrestling Australia Black Label will host a history-making event from the Metro Theatre in the heart of Sydney. The event, titled King of the Metro, boasts a four-match card, including the first-ever all-female heavyweight championship bout to emanate from Australia. For this respective matchup, “The Arm Collector” Jessica Troy will defend the PWA Heavyweight Championship against the powerhouse DELTA.
“As a fighting champion, I’m very excited for the PWA KING OF THE METRO and the opportunity to rip that big arm off Delta,” said Troy in a PWA press release. “Come and watch me, the Granola Grappler Jessica Troy and the rest of the PWA crew do what we do best!”
PWA King of the Metro will mark a rematch of sorts for Troy, as DELTA previously defeated her to win the MCW Women’s Championship in November 2022. Since then, DELTA has ridden a meteoric wave of momentum that later landed her an invitation to the recent WWE tryouts in Perth, Australia.
In another notable title match, The Joker and The Thief (Mick Moretti & Jimmy Townsend) will defend the PWA Tag Team Championships against “The Illusive” Bel Pierce and “The Street King” Aaron Jake in a Sydney Street Fight, where no holds are barred. Moretti and Townsend began their tag title reign in July 2023 by defeating The VeloCities (Jude London & Paris De Silva).
Elsewhere on the card, Big Fudge and former PWA Heavyweight Champion Ricky South will face-off in a highly-anticipated grudge match. Last year, South dramatically unmasked Fudge, who had proudly performed under a mask for over nine years. Now, the two will rekindle their rivalry, with the winner earning a coveted spot in the 30-person PWA Rumble.
Confirmed entrants in the aforementioned rumble match include Charli Evans, Kinglsey, Shay Kassidy, Everett Connors, Kai Drake, Paris De Silva, Jude London, The Tuckman, Will Kiedis, and many more.
Tickets for PWA King of the Metro are available now through Ticketek.
Making History At PWA Colosseum
Before Troy makes history against DELTA at King of the Metro, she recently looked back on another milestone in her career.
In October 2023, Troy defeated Ricky South to cement herself as the first woman to hold the PWA Heavyweight Champion. During an interview with WrestleZone’s Ella Jay, Troy reflected on this sweet victory, which took place at PWA’s biggest event of the year – Colosseum.
“It was a pretty special weekend overall,” Troy said. “To be trusted and held accountable to hold any kind of title or championship in PWA, especially considering that’s my main promotion, is a pretty special moment.”
“And at Colosseum weekend, so it’s PWA’s biggest show of the whole year, main event spot me and Ricky South. I’m just glad someone finally took the belt off him. He had it for too long, so at least it was me.”
