LA Taylor looks back on her encounters with “The Brickhouse.”
December 2022 marked a significant opportunity for LA Taylor. Out in the United Kingdom, Taylor faced off with a fellow powerhouse, who also notably resided as the longest reigning NWA Women’s World Champion of the modern era. This opponent, of course, was none other the “The Brickhouse” Kamille.
During a recent interview with WrestleZone‘s Ella Jay, LA Taylor reflected on her pair of matches with Kamille, which took place under the banners of Ultimate Pro Wrestling and Exposure Wrestling.
“We wrestled two days in a row, but the UPW one is the one that I have footage of. What a weekend. It was a complete dream come true for me, because obviously having read about Mildred Burke, I’m like, ‘Well, here’s the Burke belt. Here’s the Burke.’ For me, I was like, ‘Wow.'”
“It was a wonderful privilege,” Taylor continued. “I had the greatest time. It was nice to be given that trust as well. She didn’t have very many matches when she came over here, so to have two of those was just lovely. On a personal note, sort of hanging out and training and things was lovely, but don’t tell anyone I said that.”
Admiring Kamille’s Confidence
In further assessing their matches, Taylor noted that that she was particularly inspired by the high level of confidence exuded by Kamile
“[I learned about] the confidence to stay still. She is a study in ‘It’s in my time.’ She feels absolutely no pressure to do anything at any point because of what’s going on around her,” Taylor said. “It’s ‘No, it’s Kamille’s time.’ And I was like, ‘Oh, that I respect that.’ So that’s iconic, I love that.”
