Swerve Strickland certainly makes a good case as to why you should turn into weekly AEW programming.
All Elite Wrestling‘s Swerve Strickland recently spoke with Rick Ucchino on iHeart Radio. When asked what fans can expect from an AEW show that they’re not going to get anywhere else, Strickland spoke about the variety of talents you’ll find in this company that you can see on a weekly basis.
“The variety, the talent, the international talent, the new wave of new homegrown stars that have been making a mark in pro wrestling at such a young age. I think we’re set up for the future of pro wrestling in one of the best ways possible,” Strickland said. “But also a lot of the familiar talent you’ve been introduced to for the last 10, 20, even 30 years.
“You just had Dustin Rhodes face off against Samoa Joe for the AEW World Title on Dynamite this past Wednesday. Dustin Rhodes has had his foot in pro wrestling for years. Mercedes [Moné] coming in. [Kazuchika] Okada, one of the greatest international Japanese stars from the past 10, 15 years signed with AEW. He was on the show last night.
Swerve Strickland talks about the big stories and talents you can find in AEW
“And myself, watching my climb from being let go from one of the lowest of lows you can be at in the industry to climbing all the way in the last two years of being like headliner of pay-per-view at Dynasty in St. Louis coming up in the 21st of April. Those are big stories, and that’s the big talent that you’re just not going to see go the route that they have anywhere else.
“WWE has been entrenched in a lot of people’s DNA for like 40, 50 years. And you’ve had that relationship with them. If you’re looking for something that’s a different type of relationship, something that’s a little more fast-paced, a little more variety, a little more hard-hitting, and you want to truly invest in something that’s definitely going to be the new wave and new style of things and just a different culture, All Elite Wrestling is where you want to be. Especially like men, women, ethnicities, action, all of it.”
