Last night on AEW Dynamite, Eddie Kingston defended the AEW Continental Crown Championship against Kazuchika Okada. Despite giving it everything he had, Kingston was unable to retain his title.
The Rainmaker managed to get the pinfall victory by hitting the Rainmaker Lariat. Okada made history by capturing gold in his first singles match since signing with AEW.
Following the match, the AEW production team caught up with The Mad King Eddie Kingston to get his reaction to the loss.
“Yeah I… Um… That pissed me off. You saw that Zane, how he got all the fireworks after he won? Nah. That’s not me. That’s not me anymore. I am not going to… Okada, you were the better man tonight. Humble in victory and humble in defeat. There’s nothing… God! There’s nothing else I could say. I’m just… My emotions are everywhere. It’s that we just got done and I fought so hard to become Triple Crown Champ and… It is also one of the titles.”
Losing to Kazuchika Okada will motivate Eddie Kingston
The former AEW Continental Crown champion mentioned that he should not let this loss break him. He wants to get over the loss as he is going to defend his ROH World Title against Mark Bricoe at ROH Supercard of Honor.
“Problem is… It’s not a problem… It’s not… I got to watch my words. Words have power. Here’s the thing. I have to get over this quick. Because I got to defend the Ring of Honor World title against you Mark [Briscoe] at Supercard. This will motivate me. This will get me going, this will get me to Supercard. Last thing I am going to say… I am giving you people my heart here.”
Eddie Kingston also wanted Okada to carry his newly won championship proudly, just like he carried the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship.
“Last thing I am going to say is Okada, I know you with the Bucks and I know you guys like to be silly and you like to gouge eyes. And the Bucks like to low blow. I am not against all that. I’ve done it. I’d probably do it again sometime. We were in a fight. But hold that championship with some type of pride, man. Hold that championship the way you held the IWGP World Title. Make that title mean something. Build off it. I tried my best. Now, you have too. It’s the only thing I ask. Will you respect it? Probably not. But I still have to ask,” Eddie Kingston said.
Can the Mad King bounce back from this loss?
