Will Ospreay opens up about his recent contract offers.
With his NJPW contract expiring in February 2024, Will Ospreay perused through the market to find his next home in professional wrestling. Ultimately, Ospreay opted to settle down in All Elite Wrestling, making his full-time company debut at AEW Revolution on March 3.
In a recent interview with Talk Is Jericho, Ospreay noted that before officially inking a contract with AEW, he explored some other options – one of them being WWE. As Ospreay revealed, though, WWE’s contract offer was vastly different than the one put forth by AEW.
“Yeah, of course [I talked to WWE], but it was night and day,” Ospreay said. “Even in differences of what they were offering and what AEW was offering, AEW was way better. The scheduling, everything about AEW was completely the right option for me. It was always, you can go be a superstar in WWE and famous, but it’s not as good of pay and it’s not as kind of a schedule. I respect everyone there doing it, but it’s not for me.”
Following his victory over Konosuke Takeshita at AEW Revolution, “The Aerial Assassin” appeared on AEW Dynamite to wrestle his United Empire stablemate, and current ROH Television Champion, Kyle Fletcher. Next month, Ospreay will notably take on “The American Dragon” Bryan Danielson at AEW’s Dynasty pay-per-view.
