Be it the WWE Undisputed Universal Championship, or the Intercontinental title, they have not changed a lot in the past couple of years or so. But, if there is one championship that has changed hands a lot over the past couple of years, it is the NXT Women’s Championship. Mandy Rose held it for over a year but then dropped it to Roxanne Perez at NXT Deadline last December.
Since then, the title has changed a couple of hands, and now the reigning champion is Lyra Valkyria. She is set to defend her title next week on the Black and Gold brand. Ahead of her match, she has one final message for her opponent Xia Li.
Even when Becky Lynch was holding the championship, Xia Li had been demanding a shot at it, but she never got the opportunity for it. Since then, Li has been on a war path knocking out every wrestler in her way. Last week, Li showed up on NXT and demanded a shot at the Women’s Championship. Valkyria accepted the challenge and the match is set to take place next week.
Last night on NXT, the reigning champion was invited to a special Warrior Tea Ceremony by her challenger Xia Li. While the Tea Ceremony was indeed something very different from the usual face-to-face, it didn’t seem to have phased Lyra Valkyria one bit. Following the segment, the Irish-born star took to Twitter to have one last message for her challenger.
“@XiaWWE Warrior Tea Ceremony was a unique experience. But next week is not about Tea it’s about the NXT Women’s Title. Xia has been knocking out everyone, but she won’t be able to KO me. #AndStill,” Lyra Valkyria tweeted.
Do you think Lyra Valkyria will be able to retain her title?
