Kris Statlander shares her thoughts on her rematch against Jade Cargill.
Statlander defeated Jade Cargill to win the TBS Championship at AEW Double or Nothing 2023. Cargill returned on the September 9 episode of AEW Collision and challenged for the title on the September 15 episode of AEW Rampage. Statlander emerged victorious, and she hugged Cargill after the match.
Speaking on Under The Ring, Statlander discussed her rematch against Cargill before it aired on TV.
“I’m glad the match finally happened,” Kris Statlander said. “It’s something that I had been wanting to happen for a while. There’s been a lot of discourse about me not being the true champion, that it wasn’t a true open challenge that she put out, or that Mark put out. So I feel like there’s a lot to prove, and there’s a lot that we are going to prove in this match. It’s not just about me, it’s about her also.
“It’s a very special match. I think it’s something that we both wanted, a lot of people have wanted. Going into it, we both have something to prove. I thin that it just helps raise the stakes a little bit more.”
