Luchasaurus has won the gold, thanks to a major assist from Christian Cage.
In recent weeks, Luchasaurus and Christian Cage have been feuding with TNT Champion Wardlow and his manager, Christian Cage. Wardlow beat Cage in a Ladder Match to retain the TNT Championship at AEW Double or Nothing, but the rivalry has continued. Luchasaurus and Cage attacked Brock Anderson, Arn’s son, and made the feud even more personal.
On the June 17 episode of AEW Collision, Luchasaurus challenged Wardlow for the gold, and the two powerhouses battled it out. Wardlow was on the verge of victory in the closing moments of the bout, but Cage hit him with a camera. Luchasaurus then pinned him to win the gold. After the bell, Cage celebrated as if he won the title himself.
The loss ended Wardlow’s third reign with the title. He defeated Powerhouse Hobbs to win the championship on the April 19 episode of AEW Dynamite. With the win, Luchasaurus captured his first singles title in AEW; he is a former AEW World Tag Team Champion.
