Joe Hendry is kicking off a new chapter of his career in IMPACT Wrestling, and he has his sights set on a few potential opponents.
Hendry was previously signed to Ring of Honor, but the COVID-19 pandemic prevented him from wrestling for several months. He has since returned to the ring and revamped his style. Now, he has landed in IMPACT Wrestling, and he’s set to make his in-ring debut at the Bound For Glory pay-per-view.
Speaking with Liam Stewart of Inside The Ropes, Hendry named the IMPACT stars he’d like to face, and he pointed to Digital Media Champion Brian Myers. He also noted that Eric Young is another wrestler he’d like to share the ring with because he has learned a lot from the veteran.
“If you’re giving me the option, Brian Myers is who I want to face,” Hendry said. “I would like to do something with him for the Digital Media Championship. That’s what I think would be most entertaining for the fans but on a personal selfish level, two guys that have really sort of taken me under their wing. Eric Young I would say is the main one for me, we were on a show together in Germany and he’s just been amazing for advice and even just to be around.
“Him and Frankie Kazarian were amazing to be around to just absorb that knowledge. I’ve been fortunate enough to be around these guys and just hear them tell the stories and give lessons and give their perspective on the business.”
Additionally, Hendry named Sami Callihan and Steve Maclin, while he also stated that working in the X-Division could be fun.
“So you know, I would love to work Frankie for sure and Eric Young as well,” Hendry said. “That’s another one, Sami Callihan is like an unbelievable performer and the way he tells stories, there’s just something magical about his matches. You know, Steve Macklin seems like a badass to me. I think I could have fun in the X Division as well. I can do suplexes on multiple people, I think I could be the strong dude in the X Division.”
Henry will compete in the Call Your Shot Gauntlet at IMPACT Bound For Glory on October 7.
