The NXT creative team continues to see some behind-the-scenes changes.
According to a new report from PWInsider.com, the NXT creative team will no longer operate independently of WWE’s RAW and SmackDown brands, and they will now report to Bruce Prichard and Christine Lubrano. Previously, NXT was somewhat “autonomous in nature” under the direction of Triple H, but WWE cut many of the producers that were on his team and will now move in a different direction.
It was noted that this change was “at least short term,” but NXT will now be more consistent in how RAW and SmackDown operate in reporting directly to Prichard and Lubrano, who joined the company in January 2021. She is the current SVP of Creative Writing Operations for WWE, while Prichard is the Executive Director of SmackDown and RAW.
Additionally, it was noted that Johnny Russo will be leading the NXT writing team under the direction of Prichard and Lubrano. Russo has been with WWE since 2011 and worked various jobs on all three brands over the years, most recently serving as NXT lead writer since July 2020. Dewey Foley, son of Mick Foley, and Anthony Golden Jr. will also remain on the NXT creative team, with Foley also leading the 205 Live team. Golden Jr. joined WWE in March 2021.
Last week, WWE made a number of behind-the-scenes cuts, including “Road Dogg” Brian James, Ryan Katz, Ace Steel, Scott Armstrong, Allison Danger and Dave Kapoor, as well as Samoa Joe and William Regal.
