Adam Cole and Shawn Michaels had a stare-down on NXT a few weeks ago, but fans shouldn’t expect it to lead to a match between the two.
Triple H and Shawn Michaels were the guests on Wednesday night’s post-show media call and Michaels was asked about the moment he shared with Cole on the March 24 episode of NXT, and if it could lead to a match down the line. Michaels initially joked about putting Cole in his place if he crossed him, but said it was just a fleeting moment and that was it.
“When I was walking back from the ring, he just sorta stared at me, so I just started staring back. That Adam Cole, he looks at me wrong, and I’ll slap the taste out of his mouth. No, I’m just kidding. I love Adam Cole, he’s one of my boys. Everybody knows some of the similarities between Adam Cole and myself, that was, to me, just a fun, awesome moment prior to that introduction of the Devlin vs. Santos ladder match taking place tomorrow night,” Michaels explained, “but that was just a moment there between Adam Cole and myself.”
“I’ve got to say that it was fun for me and it got me a little giddy too. It’s one of those ones that you wish you were ten or fifteen years younger,” Michaels noted, “that would have been cool at one time.”
Triple H was asked a similar question on Barstool Sports’ “Pardon My Take” earlier this week, and “The Game” said (via Fightful) the internet blew up after that episode of NXT and it’s the ultimate match, but it’s not going to happen.
“When [Shawn] was leaving, he ran into Adam Cole backstage and they had a moment and Shawn walked off. The internet blew up with people saying, ‘Oh my God, what if? What a tease. It’s the ultimate match.’ What they don’t know is three minutes prior to that when Shawn’s music hit and he was walking out to the stage, his left knee gave out and he started dancing because he almost fell off the stage. His left knee is so bad,” Triple H said, “that it buckled on him while he was walking down the ramp. That match isn’t going to happen.”
