At Stomping Grounds, Ricochet defeated Samoa Joe to win the United States Championship. Shortly after the victory, AJ Styles challenged the champion to a match on RAW this week.

The competitors matched each other’s every step early on. Anderson and Gallows made their way to the ring and the former tried to interfere in the match. Styles argued with the pair and told them to leave. The match restarted when the tag team left. Ricochet used his athleticism to keep Styles on his toes. Styles showcased the technical expertise that has taken him to the top of WWE. He dropped Ricochet with a Pelé Kick and took control of the match. The United States Champion took Styles down with a dive to the outside. Styles nearly pinned Ricochet at several points but the champion kept fighting. The challenger pinned Ricochet after a Phenomenal Forearm. Styles hugged Ricochet after the match and raised his arm.
