During the 2019 WWE Hall of Fame induction ceremony, an audience member attempted to jump into the ring and attack Bret Hart during the Hart Foundation. Speaking to Boomer Esiason and Gregg Giannotti on the Boomer and Gio radio show, Kofi Kingston and Becky Lynch discussed the event, as well as how the fan experience is different in the WWE.
When asked about what it was like, Kingston described the WWE fans as “passionate,” and how moments like that can cause some chaos in the moment. “Our fans are very passionate, to say the least. It’s one of those things where you just never know,” he said. “A lot of people didn’t’ know what was going on until it was actually happening, so we just did what we had to do and get in there and protect our own.”
When Esiason asked Lynch about how the fans have treated her since her rise in popularity, Lynch was quick to praise the security team that the WWE employs, and the other superstars around them. “I trust our team, and you could see how quickly people reacted, and of course in the wrestling industry we’re used to seeing run-ins,” he said. “For some people, it would almost be jarring, but the likes of Kofi were in there like a shot, and the situation was taken care of.”
