In the second annual Women’s Royal Rumble, Becky Lynch would replace an injured Lana to earn a Women’s Championship opportunity at WrestleMania 35. Despite coming up short in her SmackDown Women’s Title shot against Asuka earlier in the show, Lynch was determined to punch her ticket into main event of WrestleMania any way she could.
The final four would be Charlotte Flair, Bayley, Lynch, and Nia Jax. Lynch would eliminate Jax, but “The Irresistible Force” got the last laugh, injuring Lynch towards the end. Charlotte would attack the knee of Lynch, but “The Man” would prevail and eliminate Charlotte the win the Royal Rumble.
A few notes during the match:
- Hornswoggle would make a cameo appearance, chasing Zelina Vega out of the ring until she was eventually eliminated.
- Natalya earned the record of lasting in the Women’s Royal Rumble match at 55 minutes and 58 seconds.
- A slew of NXT appearances for the Women’s Rumble, including former Women’s Champion, Kairi Sane, Candice LeRae, Xia Li, Kacy Catanzaro, and NXT UK’s Rhea Ripley.
