WWE’s Tables, Ladders, And Chairs pay-per-view ended in chaotic fashion as Asuka won the first-ever Women’s Triple Threat TLC match to become SmackDown Women’s Champion. RAW Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey would interfere in the match and push the ladder holding Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch off to the side, knocking them off completely. With the both of them incapacitated, Asuka was the lone woman remaining in the ring as she dashed up the ladder to retrieve the SD Women’s Title for her first reign on the main roster.
The show was built on the theme of comeuppance, as Becky Lynch would punch Nia Jax in the face following her defeat against Ronda Rousey. Rousey would later follow in an interview saying, “payback is a bitch and I’m the baddest one there is,” foreshadowing the events to come in the main event. Rousey would get her revenge on Charlotte after the vicious assault she suffered from “The Queen” at Survivor Series and on Lynch from the attack she suffered on the RAW before.

As TLC came to a close, Lynch and Charlotte would stare down one another, knowing that they have a common enemy in the RAW Women’s Champ.
