Progress Wrestling’s Super Strong Style 16 Results (5/5): Pete Dunne, Tyler Bate, Kassius Ohno & More Compete At Alexandra Palace

After a short interval, Smallman is back out. He brings up that they were counting the local election results yesterday at Ally Pally, and they had to get out by 5 pm because of the wrestling. Glorious stuff. Anyway, it’s back to the wrestling as we begin the second half – but not before a trailer airs for an original Progress Wrestling series ‘Freedom’s Road’. Good stuff.

Match #5 – Tyler Bate vs. Jordan Devlin

Unsurprisingly, Devlin (UK Championship Tournament competitor) and Bate (former WWE UK champion) are both extremely over with the crowd. Devlin is coming back from injury whereas Bate, simply put, is the future of this business. This is actually a rematch of their quarter-final bout from the tournament in Blackpool at the start of 2017, which Bate went on to win. The crowd are in high spirits early on, as both men trade holds to kick things off. The interval has done the crowd the world of good.

Devlin has been outrageously impressive throughout the match, matching Bate trade for trade. Tyler seems a bit surprised by Jordan’s resilience, but regardless, the story they’re telling is great as Bate just can’t seem to get a foothold – but he’s talented enough to pull something out of nowhere. Jordan has a renewed fire that is really refreshing to see, but out of nowhere, Bate puts together a lovely exchange which ends with the Tyler Driver ’97.
