Former NXT Head Coach Bill DeMott Talks Braun Strowman’s Abilities, Roman Reigns Future, Who Will Sell The Most Merch In WWE & More

In recent months since the tragic passing of his daughter Keri Ann — Bill DeMott has become passionate about changing the DUI Laws in Central Florida. He’s joined forces with MADD and the University of Central Florida.  He’s not looking to get into politics but is willing to run for office to make sure that what happened to his family doesn’t continue to happen to thousands of others in Florida and around the country. Please go to Booster.com or WalkLikeMadd.org and support the #KeriAnneDeMottMatters campaign where proceeds go to MADD.

The former Superstar and NXT Head Coach Bill DeMott talked with @BlakeMitchamore of “BS with CSR” weekly podcast on CSRWrestling.com. Here are some wrestling related highlights of the interview:

On Daniel Bryan’s Retirement:

I think it was smart move. If that many people were telling him not to do it, he was brave enough to listen. He has his entire future ahead of him. This also shows that this company (WWE) cares about their performers health. They just took one of their main players, moneymakers, merchandise sellers and made the right decision for him.

What’s it like to work for Triple H?

Hands down my favorite person to work with and to work for, his vision is clear and his direction is clear. To see what he’s done in the short 3-4 years since he took over his amazing. Paul is a great guy to work for.

In your opinion what is it about Roman Reigns that is so polarizing?

The guy’s a freaking movie star!  When I first met him my thought was “Who the hell is this guy and why’s he still here?” It has nothing to do with wrestling. He’s just a big, strong, good-looking cat that commands attention when he enters a room. To me he has yet to even scratch the surface of what he’s going to do in his career.

Are there any NXT talents that you are surprised weren’t more successful when they got called up to WWE or the main roster?

The first one that stands out to me is Emma. She was by far one of the biggest NXT stars to be called up. Emma is one of the most creative people I’ve ever met. She’s always working on the next thing and trying to reinvent herself. Just because she didn’t’ start out hot doesn’t mean she won’t eventually pick up steam.  The transition from NXT to WWE is harder than most of the fan base thinks it is.

On Braun Strowman:

I don’t think people realize the fact that he’s dropped over 100 pounds since he first arrived at the Performance Center. The guy used to be a World Strongest Man.  He’s tried to change his body to be able to move and get some longevity in this business.

On his in-ring ability:

I’m sure he wouldn’t disagree with me in saying that he has a lot to learn still. What people don’t know based on his appearance is the guy is a freaking genius. He’s a very smart man. I guarantee you he is up there picking the brains of the right people. If he gets his opportunity to shine he’ll be as ready as he possibly can be.  You have to remember how big he is; he’s not going to be doing crazy moves. He’s going to be very Kane esq.

In the final part of the interview Bill played word association with major names in the business.

Triple H-  “Passionate, Motivator, Leads by Example”

Sasha Banks- “Future Of The Business”

Bayley- “ Will sell the most merchandise of any WWE superstar in history”

Daniel Bryan- “Class Act”

DeMott also spoke honestly about Vince McMahon, Hulk Hogan, Goldberg and The Undertaker. We ask you to listen and share the interview.
