2014 WWE Hall of Fame
Tonight’s host Jerry “The King” Lawler welcomes us to the show. He rolls a WrestleMania recap video package that shows every major moment in the history of the Showcase of the Immortals, and some great moments from throughout the history of the WWE.
Inductee: Lita
Presenter: Trish Stratus
Trish looks incredible. She says Amy (Lita) is the godmother of her child, they debuted a few weeks apart, their retirement was a few weeks apart, and they had their first and last matches with each other. Trish basically put over all Lita’s accomplishments – main eventing Raw, being relevant to girls at home, an equal member of Team Extreme, etc.
Lita comes out and takes in her moment. She thanks the fans and then goes off on a story about her first trip to Mexico to become a professional wrestler. Random shout-out to Val Venis. She says it all started when she saw Rey Mysterio wrestle in Mexico, and met up with Arn Anderson. She says Arn promised to introduce her to Mysterio, and that she owed him a beer. They bring Arn and Rey a beer, and they all toast together.
She then talks about debuting in ECW at Heat Wave on PPV, and Danny Doring proposing to her with a condom. She recaps her relationship with Kane, which is hilarious, and giving Gene Snitski his catchphrase. Apparently she told a little girl that she didn’t really have a baby, and that Glen (Kane) was super nice. Also, at one point she broke her neck and instead of listening to an MD, she called Steve Austin.
She thanks everyone she needs to thank, including Mickie James and Victoria, who is there. Jim Ross, Tom Prichard, Matt and Jeff Hardy, Edge, etc.
KILLAM: I don’t care that Lita rambled and was a bit awkward. But that speech went on for more than 30 minutes. If they booked time for it, cool, but hopefully nobody gets cut short tonight. The Network had 2.5 hours booked, and we’re almost done with the first hour. Amy’s speech was, as I said, a bit long-winded, but it was real and from the heart.
