WWE Main Event Results (3/4): Detroit, MI – Daniel Bryan vs. Kane, The Usos Defend Tag Team Championships; Vote on New Review Format

[…Cont]

After another short commercial break, the Usos are still in control of their challengers. One of the Usos locks in a rest hold and El Torito starts a slow clap with the fans.

Los Matadores end up building up some momentum, alternating in and out with quick tags. Lots of arm drags and flips, but a lot of the focus is on the New Age Outlaws, who are sitting ringside doing commentary for this match.

Jimmy Uso makes a hot tag for his team and kicks Fernando in the chest, followed by a sit-down slam. He tries for the corner splash, but Fernando steps out of the way. Both guys counter piledriver attempts about four guys, followed by a tilt-the-whirl throw in the favor of Los Matadores. Out of nowhere Jimmy gets a Samoan drop, but only picks up two.

Diego gets tossed to the counter, perches himself on the top rope, but Jimmy superkicks him. Stereo superkicks to Fernando for the 1-2-3, as the Usos retain their championships.

Winners: The Usos

After the match, Billy Gunn pushes El Torito off the apron. The bull gets angry as the Outlaws make fun of him, so he hits a headscissors on him. Billy chases him into the ring and gets picked up by Los Matadores. El Torito goars him in the mid-section – maybe a little lower if you know what I mean – and Los Matadores celebrate to end Main Event.

Mike's Thoughts: Not quite as good a match as the advertised one would have been, but they did what they could with a babyface vs. babyface interaction. The crowd was really into the Usos, which is great to see, but not so much Los Matadores. Not much you can do about that when you force the fans to pick between two favorites. Billy and Dogg's commentary was good – they had some funny comments and it furthered the feud between the two teams that you would think leads into a WrestleMania match.

Overall this was a really solid episode of Main Event that definitely made use of the live format and the WWE Network's lack of commercial breaks. They announced that Main Event will continue to be live on the Network every single Tuesday, with a time change to 8PM ET instead of 7PM. That gives them an hour long buffer, so the show won't technically be "live" as they'll be in the middle of a Smackdown taping, but it will be close enough.

Nothing was bad, and the opening contest was a midcard PPV quality encounter with a well-built story. If they continue to further real stories every week on their "C Show" I will keep watching. Although, if I end up doing live results every week, I wont' have a choice. So here's to hoping…
