CM Punk (c) vs Daniel Bryan vs Kane
Why is AJ Lee the most focal point of the WWE Championship title picture? Don’t get me wrong, good Diva programs have always made compelling garnish to a feud — Edge/Cena wouldn’t have had half the momentum without Lita — but when she’s the most interesting thing going on, that’s when you have to start worrying. You can’t really blame her though, at least not completely. Daniel Bryan is hot right now, but nobody is really sure why. It can’t, and won’t last forever. Kane is out-of-place on the Raw roster, let alone in this feud. And to top it all off you’ve got a WWE Champion that’s been phoning it in since he got his new contract last summer, all under the guise of doing something “new” and “fun”. I’m bored, and not even false promises of an ice cream bar can bring me back. This coming from a guy who’s got the Chicago stars tattoo’d on him…
Prediction: Fans of good wrestling matches will probably win. Probably.
Steel Cage Match
John Cena vs Big Show
Somebody is getting “fired”. Once upon a time that was enough to get me to buy a PPV. But this time around, I don’t see anything good coming out of this. If John Cena wins, good triumphs over evil and balance is restored to the universe. BUT, they also kill the John Laurinaitis character in the process. But if Big Show wins, Cena gets fired and we have to sit through more condescending bullshit about how he can’t possibly comeback, and then never actually go a single week without seeing him on our television sets.
On the other hand, there’s a good chance WWE wants to give Cena some time off to deal with his most recent personal issues. If that be the case, enter Triple H to take out the trash and set up some sort of cosmic tag team match in the future. Triple H/Cena vs Big Show/Lesnar at SummerSlam?
Prediction: Anyone who’s never seen a Cena match wins.
So I guess the question remains: should you order No Way Out tonight on PPV? Let’s be real, how many of you are actually going to fork over any money to see it? There’s not enough here to keep me from watching, but there’s also not enough to distinguish from the same old material I’ve been digesting for years. If you couldn’t tell, I don’t have very high expectations for this show tonight…
