Former WWE Star Shares Uplifting Message After Recent Cuts

A former WWE star recently shared a positive and uplifting message after WWE cuts for wrestlers and fans. At a time when things feel uncertain, she reminded everyone that change has always been a big part of professional wrestling.

Some of the biggest surprises included the entire Wyatt Sicks group, Kofi Kingston, and Aleister Black. In the women’s division, names like Kairi Sane, Zelina Vega, Zoey Stark, and Alba Fyre were also released. There were also many releases in NXT and developmental, affecting both new and experienced talent.

While these cuts have made people worry about job security, Maria Kanellis’ message offers a unique perspective.

Maria Kanellis encourages patience as wrestling continues to evolve through major changes

Maria Kanellis, who has seen both success and struggles in her career, spoke about how wrestling is always changing. She pointed out how the pro wrestling industry has evolved from the WWF to modern WWE, from the Attitude Era to the PG era, and now with the rise of AEW. She told the talents to stay patient and keep going.

“For anyone, feeling anyway about wrestling. It all changes. Someone else will gain power or lose power and things will change. The social climate will change and wrestling will change. The economy will change and wrestling will change. The casting call will change and wrestling will change. From old school to attitude, WWF to WWE, to PG to Divas Revolution, to Indy Takeover to NXT Takeover, to covid to AEW, to ??? Just wait and the opportunity will show up,” Kanellis tweeted.

This advice comes from her own journey. She became subject to releases and managed to rebuild her career. From starting in the Diva Search in 2004 to becoming a well-known on-screen personality and even holding the 24/7 Championship, she has seen the business closely.

Also, this isn’t the first time she has spoken out after WWE cuts. Immediately after the April 2026 releases, she shared another message telling wrestlers to stay in control of their own careers. “To everyone that was recently released… you decide when you are done. Not a company, not age, and not the internet. It’s over when you decide it’s over,” she tweeted.

For many released WWE wrestlers, there are still many options, like independent shows, international promotions, and newer platforms. Kanellis even said she hopes to work with many of them again in the future.
