Nick Khan Endorses Triple H and Defends WWE Creative Against Online Backlash

Nick Khan has made it clear that Triple H is not going anywhere.

Speaking during a town hall meeting, details of which were reported by POST Wrestling, the WWE President addressed staff and reaffirmed that Paul Levesque will remain in his role as Chief Content Officer. Levesque has held the position since taking over creative duties from Vince McMahon in July 2023.

Update: Khan was quoted as saying that it’s a contract extension:

“A number of us [TKO President] Mark [Shapiro], [TKO CFO] Andrew [Schleimer], others, were able to get Paul Levesque to extend with us in a multi-year deal,” Khan said (via POST Wrestling). “We’re excited about that. He’s the head of creative amongst other things and has been doing a great job for and with us.”

Khan also responded to criticism of WWE’s current product, suggesting that much of the negativity comes from a small but vocal section of fans online. He referenced the narrative surrounding WrestleMania 42, where some believed Night 1 was not as well received as Night 2, pushing back on that idea.

Nick Khan reads old anti-WWE messages

To reinforce his point, Khan reportedly read out several critical messages from around 2015, likely taken from social media, to highlight how complaints about WWE’s product have existed for years and are not always a reliable measure of its success.

Interestingly, Khan’s remarks come at a time when online reactions have reportedly influenced creative direction. According to Dave Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez on Wrestling Observer Radio, fan backlash played a role in Pat McAfee stepping away from a planned high-profile match-up.

As a result, WWE is said to have scrapped plans for a tag team match that would have seen McAfee team up with Randy Orton against Rhodes and Jelly Roll at Backlash 2026.

Adding to that perspective, Jelly Roll himself acknowledged the criticism in a recent vlog, stating that he did not feel he or McAfee truly belonged in a wrestling ring — echoing sentiments that had circulated among fans.
