Update on Willie Mack’s AEW Contract Status

A new update sheds light on where things currently stand between Willie Mack and All Elite Wrestling.

Willie Mack recently went public with his frustrations over creative direction in AEW. On X, Mack referenced Tony Khan, claiming Khan doesn’t think he’s worth the money and adding that he’s “about to become a homeless superhero.”

The tweet led to speculation that his time with AEW and ROH might be over. According to Fightful Select, Willie Mack is still under contract. He originally signed as a tier zero talent but was later upgraded to a full-time salaried deal sometime in the last two years. However, he was recently moved back to tier zero.

“It was claimed by AEW sources that they’ve been in contact with Willie Mack, but the context of such isn’t clear,” the report noted. Mack has also claimed that he followed up with creative for two years straight but received no direction.

PWInsider.com reports that Mack’s previous deal expired, and although he was offered a new contract, he opted not to sign. This could explain why he was moved back to tier zero.

Mack has not competed in any AEW or ROH matches this year. He is still able to work independent shows. Some may recall there were issues with him working for Game Changer Wrestling in late 2024, when AEW and GCW had a brief falling out.

Update: Mack stated that claims he turned down a contract are “wrong.”
