Nick Aldis Reveals How The Next Challenger For The WWE Title Will Be Decided

The WWE Championship will once again be up for grabs.

During the SmackDown broadcast in Berlin, General Manager Nick Aldis announced several major matchups to determine the next challenger for the WWE Championship.

Aldis revealed that eight men will compete across four qualifying matches next week on SmackDown in London. The winners of those bouts will then advance to a Fatal Four-Way match at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event in Montreal on January 24.

The winner of the Fatal Four-Way match at SNME will earn a WWE Championship opportunity at the Royal Rumble in Saudi Arabia later this month. That superstar will challenge the winner of Cody Rhodes vs. Drew McIntyre at the Riyadh premium live event.

WWE Championship Qualifying Matches

The following matches have been announced for SmackDown next week:

  • Randy Orton vs. The Miz
  • Matt Cardona vs. Trick Williams
  • Damian Priest vs. Solo Sikoa
  • Sami Zayn vs. Ilja Dragunov

All of these men appeared on WWE SmackDown this week in Berlin. Randy Orton was involved in the opening segment with Trick Williams, which ended with The Viper standing tall. Matt Cardona was later shown hyping up Cody Rhodes ahead of his WWE Championship defense against Drew McIntyre.
