WWE SmackDown returned to its three-hour format Friday night to kick off 2026. But a new report suggests this change might only be temporary.
At the beginning of 2025, WWE and USA Network made SmackDown a three-hour show. But once we got to July, the show reverted to its standard two-hour format for the rest of the year.
The three-hour SmackDowns returned in 2026, and many fans assumed this shift was for good. But a new report believes that might not be the case.
On the latest episode of the Bryan and Vinny Show, Bryan Alvarez reported that he’s been told that SmackDown’s time shift will likely follow the same format change that they had in 2025.
“I was told, when the announcement was made, that they were going back to three hours in January, that it probably was going to be the same thing this year, where it would be a three-hour show for the first half, or whatever,” Alvarez stated. [H/T: WrestlingNews.co]
