WWE Changes Zelina Vega’s Ring Name

After her recent on-screen association with her husband, Aleister Black, WWE has made an official move to cut down the ring name of Zelina Vega.

A few weeks ago, when WWE SmackDown was in Perth, Australia, Zelina Vega intervened in the match to help Aleister Black defeat Damian Priest in a Last Man Standing match. This was their first time appearing together on WWE TV.

Since their partnership began, the couple has been inseparable on-screen, with Zelina seen accompanying Black in his matches. Additionally, she was at ringside for his recent WWE United States Championship match against Ilja Dragunov on WWE SmackDown.

Now WWE has changed her profile on their official website and made a slight name change. Rather than having a last name, WWE dropped “Vega,” and she is now using the mononym “Zelina.” The decision to shorten her name seems to be recent, as WWE’s recent video packages featuring Black and Vega still had been using her full name.

With this update, it looks like WWE is officially rebranding Zelina as part of her new storyline alongside Aleister Black.

Aleister Black once pitched the idea of working with Zelina, his real-life wife, to WWE in 2021, but Triple H wasn’t interested in pairing them together at the time. He recently changed his mind after seeing how successful CM Punk and Seth Rollins were when they teamed up with their real-life partners, AJ Lee and Becky Lynch.
