Chris Jericho is still a highly sought-after talent in the pro wrestling business.
Jericho hasn’t been seen on AEW TV since April. It’s been widely speculated that he could be returning to WWE. Jericho is still under contract with AEW. However, that hasn’t stopped other promotions from showing their interest in acquiring the wrestling legend.
According to a new report from Fightful (via Fightful Select), Jericho’s contract will expire at the end of 2025. Unless time has been added or he reaches an extension, he’d be free to work elsewhere. Despite his AEW contract still having time on it, Chris Jericho is getting interest from “multiple companies on a national and global level,” including WWE.
The report noted that it’s unclear if WWE has had any direct conversations about him or creative pitches made. That said, WWE higher-ups have still brought up his name. It was noted that one WWE staffer said that they felt like Jericho being referenced on WWE TV, as well as the reaction to his name, was a good sign for the level of interest in him.
Tony Khan still hopes to see Chris Jericho back in AEW
Fightful said a WWE source believes Jericho would likely be offered a contract worth “several million dollars” annually. However, they also believe AEW would be able to match it. It was also noted that the company still isn’t sure what would motivate Jericho to return.
A recent report by F4WOnline.com’s Dave Meltzer (via the Wrestling Observer Newsletter) suggested that Jericho could return to WWE for a retirement tour and a Hall of Fame induction.
Tony Khan recently said he would love to have Jericho back. The AEW owner told Josh Martinez of Z100 New York that he would always welcome Jericho back in AEW when he is free and willing to do so.
