AEW Dynamite Results:

This week’s episode of Dynamite kicks off with AEW World Champion Hangman Page backstage. Page puts over Kyle Fletcher’s efforts at All Out and says he’ll be watching him to see what he does after that moment and hopes he doesn’t let him down. Page says he put out an open challenge tonight, and he’ll face Pittsburgh’s own Lee Moriarty. Hangman tells him to bring his A Game tonight.

AEW World Tag Team Championship: Brodido (c) vs. GOA (w/ Ricochet)

  • Aubrey Edwards ejected Ricochet during the match for trying to use a steel chair on Bandido. The finish of the match saw Bandido hit Bishop Kaun with the 21Plex to score the pinfall victory for his team.

Winners: And still AEW World Tag Team Champions, Brodido!

Grade: A-

Man, that was a blast. It was a great match to kick things off on Dynamite tonight. I’m really surprised that the Hurt Syndicate didn’t get involved to cost GOA the match. Brodido getting the clean win left me pleasantly surprised.

If they didn’t get you enough hints at All Out…

Alicia Atout is backstage with the Conglomeration. Mark Briscoe continued to tease their mystery partner tonight against the Don Callis Family and dropped every hint in the book to let you know that Orange Cassidy is returning tonight. It was very silly, but at the end of the day, that’s what the Conglomeration is.

Renee Paquette is backstage with Kris Statlander and Harley Cameron. Statlander says she’s pretty beat up, but she wants to be a fighting champion, so she’s not wasting any time tonight putting the title on the line against Mina Shirakawa. Paquette tried to question what Statlander’s status with the Death Riders is, and got a very cold death stare. Statlander says that things can move very fast when you make decisions. Cameron tries to downplay things during this uncomfortable moment.

AEW World Championship Open Challenge: Hangman Page (c) vs. Lee Moriarty

  • The finish of the match saw Hangman Page hit Lee Moriarty with the Deadeye to score the pinfall victory.

Winner: And still AEW World Champion, Hangman Page

Grade: A-

This was a great technical bout. I’m good with Hangman doing the fighting champion gimmick for now, but I hope they find him a big challenger in time for WrestleDream next month. I guess we’ll see what happens in the weeks ahead.

Turning your back on family?

We see some footage from AEW All Out backstage where Renee Paquette tries to get a comment from Adam Copeland about the health status of his wife, Beth. Copeland says he can’t talk right now and stormed into the locker room. Cope tells Cage he can’t let things like this keep happening to his family, so he needs to go away for a while and isn’t certain he’ll be back.

Cage says he has no family anymore, so Copeland should take care of his. Copeland says Cage still has family, and they shake hands. Not sure Copeland’s first instinct in this story should be to run away. Beth is a grown woman; she can handle herself. Not sure I’m digging the story choice at the moment.

What does FTR have to say for themselves?

Tony Schiavone is in the ring and brings out FTR and Big Stoke. Schiavone says what FTR did on Saturday is the worst thing that’s ever happened in an AEW ring. Cash Wheeler says he’ll speak on this and says he can’t stop thinking about what went down this weekend, and says this wasn’t supposed to happen.

Wheeler blames Copeland for bringing his wife, Beth, into their business. Big Stoke says he forgives Beth for what she did to him at All Out. Stoke says he wasn’t running at Beth to attack her; he was running at her to introduce himself, and he got a spear for his troubles, but it didn’t hurt. Stoke says he let Beth spear him.

Dax Harwood says he was advised to come out and sincerely apologize for his actions on Saturday. Harwood says he will not apologize for dropping Copeland and Cage on their necks and brains. Harwood then addresses Beth and says he would never purposely hurt her, but as he tried to intervene from her attacking Cash, she made his eyes water, and thought she was piledriving Cope instead of her.

Dax says he would never put his hands on a woman. This brings out Willow Nightingale, who sarcastically says that was a great apology. Nightingale says if they lie as good as they wrestle, they might have won last week. Nightingale puts over Beth and says women like her are why she became a wrestler.

Willow says women like Beth are the reason she doesn’t take shit from guys like FTR. Nightingale says they can try to apologize sincerely or get out of the ring. Stoke says it’s past Nightingale’s bedtime and gets the microphone knocked out of his hand. FTR tries to do something to Nightingale, but JetSpeed intervenes and cleans house.

MJF isn’t taking these recent losses well

We get post-match comments from MJF that happened following his match with Mark Briscoe at All Out. Friedman says he’s not the same since he lost his title, and something is missing. MJF says he can’t come back until he figures out what’s wrong with him. Friedman says he won’t come back until he’s the most dangerous he’s ever been.

Kazuchika Okada, Konosuke Takeshita, and Hechicero (w/ Don Callis and Rocky Romero) vs. Mark Briscoe, Hologram, and Orange Cassidy

  • The finish of the match saw Hologram hit Hechicero with the Portal Bomb to score the pinfall victory for his team.

Winners: Hologram, Mark Briscoe, and Orange Cassidy

After the match, TNT Champion Kyle Fletcher comes out and puts over his effort at All Out and says he’s still a future AEW World Champion. Fletcher says Hangman was right about how bad and crushed he felt the next day, but then he looked in the mirror and reminded himself who he is. Fletcher says he looks in the ring and sees a bunch of dorks, but also sees an opportunity.

Kyle puts over Hologram’s winning streak and says he’s only undefeated because he’s never stepped into the ring with him. Fletcher challenges Hologram to a match next week for the TNT Championship.

Grade: B+

Fun tag match. Really happy to have Orange Cassidy back. The aftermath made me VERY happy, as I have been very vocal about Hologram receiving a title shot of some sort for his undefeated streak in AEW. I think I speak on behalf of many fans when I say it’s about damn time.

Is Mina ready for Stat?

Renee Paquette is backstage with Mina Shirakawa. Mina says she hasn’t heard from Toni Storm since Saturday, but she will give Kris Statlander everything she has tonight in order to win the AEW Women’s World Championship.

We get a video package recapping the return of Jurassic Express at AEW All Out.

Claudio Castagnoli vs. Powerhouse Hobbs

  • The finish of the match saw PAC get involved and distract Powerhouse Hobbs, allowing Claudio Castagnoli to hit Hobbs with an uppercut and a small package to score the pinfall victory.

Winner: Claudio Castagnoli

After the match, Samoa Joe hits the ring to try and even the odds, but Daniel Garcia and Wheeler Yuta join the fray and beat down The Opps. Hangman Page hits the ring to make things more even, and they chase off the Death Riders.

Grade: B+

This was certainly a meat match if I’ve ever seen one. A very hard-hitting affair. I’m surprised this was their first one-on-one match together. I’d like to see more in the future because I think they can probably put on an even better rematch without the clonky finish.

What is Tony Khan’s important announcement?

Tony Khan is backstage and makes the important announcement that they are introducing AEW Women’s World Tag Team Titles. Renee Paquettes unveils the titles at ringside, and they look like slightly smaller versions of the men’s titles. Very cool and long overdue!

AEW Women’s World Championship: Kris Statlander (c) vs. Mina Shirakawa

  • The finish of the match saw Kris Statlander catch Mina Shirakawa with the Seatbelt pin to score the pinfall victory.

Winner: And still AEW Women’s World Champion, Kris Statlander

After the match, Wheeler Yuta and Harley Cameron both get in the ring to congratulate Statlander. This also brings out all of the Death Riders who surround the ring. Jon Moxley and Marina Shafir get in the ring. Yuta hugs Statlander, who reluctantly hugs him back. Yuta ends up being clotheslined by Statlander. She flips off Mox to his face before she and Harley escape through the crowd.

Grade: B+

Darby Allin comes out with a flame thrower and causes Jon Moxley to backtrack and fall over the steel steps. The Death Riders retreat as Allin challenges Mox to an I Quit match next month at WrestleDream as AEW Dynamite goes off the air.

AEW Dynamite Review:

This was a very fun episode of Dynamite tonight to follow up All Out. There was a lot of good in-ring action and some great storyline progression. We seemingly have our first big match announced for WrestleDream and the announcement of AEW Women’s Tag Team Titles.

Next week is the Dynamite 6th anniversary show, and I’m expecting some big moments. We’ll see what goes down.

Grade: B+
