Bryan Danielson Reveals The Surprising Way He Found Out About AEW Commentary Role

Bryan Danielson will be a full-time member of the AEW commentary team starting this week. He recently shared the surprising way he learned about his new role in the company.

During a new interview with Jamie Apps for Australia’s Pario Magazine, Bryan Danielson said that he learned about the new gig in an unexpected way. Danielson says that he didn’t have a private conversation about it, but actually found out when it was announced on social media.

“I found out the same way everybody else found out on Sunday. I got a text message like, ‘Hey man, so you’ll be at Dynamite this week, right?’ And then they sent me the tweet that Tony Khan sent,” Danielson explained.

This almost lines up with what Tony Khan said during a recent appearance on the Battleground podcast. There, Khan said he approached Bryan Danielson about doing full-time commentary around the time his promotional tour of Australia wrapped up.

Danielson also spoke about his philosophy for commentary, explaining that his role is to elevate the broadcast help progress the story.

“My philosophy from a commentary standpoint is to do whatever I can to help move the story along, to help things seem more important, to help ferry the viewer along with the stories that we’re trying to tell.”

Bryan Danielson will be at the broadcast booth on Wednesday when AEW Dynamite goes live from the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia.
