Sol Ruca Shares Thoughts on the Future of WWE Speed

Sol Ruca believes WWE is still figuring out the future of the Speed Championship.

Earlier this month, reports revealed that the WWE Speed show on X had been discontinued, as matches were no longer being taped before Raw and SmackDown. Despite this, the Speed titles are still listed on WWE’s official website, with El Grande Americano and Sol Ruca recognized as the current champions.

Speaking with Ten Count Media, Sol Ruca addressed the confusion about the title’s status. She explained that she is still recognized as a double champion, holding both the NXT North American Championship and the Speed Championship.

“I’m definitely still a double champion, I am, you know, the Speed Champion and the North American Champion. I know there’s a little confusion about what’s going on. I honestly don’t really have an answer either. But until they tell me I’m no longer a double champion, I am still a double champion.”

Ruca also hinted that the championship could eventually be featured on NXT, as the company works out the next steps for the title. “Maybe we’ll start doing stuff on NXT with it. I think there was a little bit of leeway. And now I think we’re just trying to figure out what we want to do with it. But, I mean, as of now, I’m still technically a double champion. So I’m not complaining.” [H/T: wrestlingnews.co]

Interestingly, on WWE NXT, Sol Ruca and Zaria had a backstage run-in with Fatal Influence. After the faction left, Lainey Reid pointed out that Jacy Jayne defends both of her titles. This could be a hint that the Speed Championship might also be defended on the NXT brand.
