John Cena is featured in the new ESPN direct-to-consumer app launch.
The new teaser features John Cena as a “sports coach” explaining the new features and shows coming to the streaming app. In the teaser, Cena walks toward a whiteboard listing ESPN personalities and sports personalities such as Stephen A. Smith, Scott Van Pelt, Peyton Manning, Pat McAfee, and more.
It also highlights the content available on the new app and introduces a new mascot for the app. The app will launch for fans on August 21. John Cena’s appearance in the teaser isn’t surprising, as just last week, WWE and ESPN announced a new deal that will see WWE’s Premium Live Events air on ESPN’s streaming platform starting in 2026.
Cena also reacted to the news on X, formerly known as Twitter. He wrote, “Proud would be an understatement. This landmark partnership represents an exciting future for #WWE as a flagship member of the ESPN family. Cannot wait to see what the world of sports entertainment looks like on @ESPN. Excited for 2026!!”
With Cena appeared in a teaser for the new app, marking the start of a new partnership between WWE and ESPN.
