Speedball Mike Bailey and The Hurt Syndicate decided to have a little fun with the rumors about having issues with each other.
According to Fightful (via Fightful Select), several wrestlers said MVP upset people behind the scenes in AEW. The Fightful report confirmed details initially shared in a Twitter Space by The Wrestling Binder’s JCup2013. Many sources claim MVP openly dislikes “Speedball” Mike Bailey and said that he didn’t want The Hurt Syndicate to lose the AEW Tag Team Titles to JetSpeed.
The report went on to say that MVP reportedly rejected pitches to have the Hurt Syndicate lose to veteran teams, instead preferring to drop them to a younger team like The Outrunners, Gates of Agony, or Private Party. Additionally, it was said that The Hurt Syndicate, who come off as fan favorites despite being a heel team, didn’t help matters. Despite the reported backstage heat, many people in AEW have downplayed the rumors and said the overall mood has been positive.
Now, MVP, Speedball, Shelton Benjamin and Bobby Lashley have responded to the report, at least the part about their rumored friction. MVP posted the following video on Instagram, greeting Bailey backstage with a “f*ck you, Speedball.” Speedball replied in kind, and MVP “forced” a dejected Lashley and Benjamin to say the same.
