UFC legend Daniel Cormier claims Brock Lesnar is on WWE’s “banned list.”
Last week, Daniel Cormier said on Demetrious Johnson’s “The Mightycast,” podcast that WWE has placed Brock Lesnar on a “banned list,” claiming Lesnar’s got into serious trouble. His comments quickly sparked speculation about Lesnar’s current status in the company.
In response, Dave Meltzer from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter explained the situation. He said WWE’s legal team decided to stop using Lesnar after Janel Grant filed a lawsuit against Vince McMahon and the company. “There is nothing new on the Lesnar front. WWE legal made the call at the time Janel Grant filed her lawsuit against Vince McMahon and WWE to not allow Lesnar to be used.” [H/T: wrestlingnews.co]
Brock Lesnar was originally scheduled to appear in the 2024 Royal Rumble and begin a storyline with Gunther for WrestleMania 40. WWE had even written him into the show. However, they removed him at the last minute and replaced him with Bron Breakker.
The company reportedly planned for Brock Lesnar to defeat Dominik Mysterio at a Elimination Chamber and later face Gunther at WrestleMania 40. Although Cormier’s comments gained attention, Meltzer made it clear that the company has not changed its stance.
He said, “Nothing has changed and the situation remains the same. There is nothing other than that.” Brock Lesnar last appeared on WWE TV at SummerSlam 2023, where he lost to Cody Rhodes and ended their intense rivalry.
Oba Femi responds to Brock Lesnar comparisons
During an appearance on The Hall of Fame podcast, Oba Femi addressed comparisons to Brock Lesnar. “I’ve definitely taken some inspiration from him in the way I work. But I don’t think it’s a one-to-one correlation between Brock Lesnar and Oba Femi. The athleticism and strength are there, but I think Oba is a beast of his own.”
“Personally, I don’t think anyone moves like Oba, talks like Oba, walks like Oba. Oba is a unique experience, and people who draw the most correlation between Lesnar and Femi are people who haven’t really seen a lot of Femi. They just look at the superficial stuff like the build and speed.”
“Those are just the exterior. When you know the character of the ruler, the destroyer, the bringer of war, you understand that is a unique experience that the WWE universe has never seen before. Oba is a one-of-one. I want to make that clear.”
