What is going on with Gunther and WWE after WrestleMania 41 weekend?
Gunther’s reign as World Heavyweight Champion came to an end at the hands of Jey Uso at WrestleMania 41. Two nights later, in a moment of rage, the former champion attacked RAW commentators Michael Cole and Pat McAfee.
These actions led to RAW General Manager Adam Pearce fining Gunther and handing him an indefinite suspension. So what’s going on with The Ring General? Is this the beginning of a storyline that will move him to the SmackDown brand? A new report suggests that wasn’t the reasoning for Monday’s angle.
According to Cory Hays of PW Nexus, the RAW Superstar has requested time off from the company, tweeting out:
“Gunther requested some time off which is why he has been suspended ‘indefinitely,’” Cory Hays said in a post.
Both Michael Cole and Pat McAfee are scheduled to return to commentary this Monday night on RAW.
