Oba Femi Says He Was Dealing With ‘Visa Things’ During NXT Absence

Oba Femi discusses his absence from NXT.

Former NXT North American Champion Oba Femi was absent from WWE programming for several weeks following NXT Halloween Havoc. He made his surprise return at NXT Deadline. There, he won the Men’s Iron Survivor Challenge.

Speaking on The Ringer’s Wrestling Worldwide, Femi commented on his return at NXT Deadline.

“That week, honestly, from that point, two weeks before that moment was hectic for me because I was actually in Nigeria,” Femi said. “I was securing… taking care of some visa things, and I just made it in time to that show. I almost didn’t make it. There was so much going through my mind, it’s like, okay, I’ve been off for like six weeks. The last time I really wrestled a long match was versus The Family at Halloween Havoc. So at this point, I’m thinking, okay, can I still wrestle? Can I still go? How’s my wind going to be? I have all these thoughts, but then the music hits, and you’re just like, well, let’s go.”

Oba Femi On His Time Off

Femi was also asked about his time off, and he noted that he spent time with his family.

“I saw my family, which was nice to do,” Oba Femi said. “They live in Nigeria, and I do. So seeing them was nice. Wrestling, it’s nice to be outside of the wrestling bubble for a little bit because when you’re on, you’re on. It’s every week, it’s fast, it’s coming at you.

“It’s training, practice, TV, so the little moments that I can get to just chill and do nothing, I savor those. There’s also moments where I do still think about wrestling when I’m off because at the end of the day, the love of the craft, you always think about what you love.”

Femi will challenge Trick Williams for the NXT Championship at NXT New Year’s Evil.

WrestleZone will have coverage of WWE NXT as it airs on December 17.
