Raquel Rodriguez Came Up Short, But Is Super Proud And Humbled By Matches With Ronda Rousey

Raquel Rodriguez is making the most out of her feud with Ronda Rousey.

During an appearance on WWE After The Bell with Corey Graves, co-host Vic Joseph asked Raquel Rodriguez to describe how important it is to stay mindful of the success one has, rather than exclusively focusing on what’s next.

“It’s so important and that’s why I love doing these interviews. It gives me a moment to stop and take a step back and look at everything that I’ve accomplished this past year. I’ve had two matches with Ronda Rousey. That is something that, even when she made her return, I never imagined I would get the opportunity to step into the ring with Ronda Rousey once, let some twice, and I’m super proud of both of those performances. I feel like we both went out there, we came together as two understanding athletes from different backgrounds, and we made magic. It’s so humbling to be able to step back and look at that and know that that’s something that I am capable of. But that also just makes you even hungrier. At the end of the day, it is something cool to take a step back and be like, ‘Girl, you’re on SmackDown. You wrestled Ronda Rousey.’”

Graves then highlighted Rodriguez’s recent bout with Rousey and praised her performance. The former NXT Women’s Champion noted that it was an amazing experience, and she described how getting positive feedback was quite validating.

“It felt absolutely amazing. Honestly, even though I came up short, I know that Charlotte wouldn’t have won the title if it wasn’t for me [laughs], so it makes me feel even better,” Rodriguez said. “It makes me feel really, really good because it does solidify in me that I feel like sometimes we lack as performers or we lack as women or as human beings in general. To be able to do that and to see those comments and to hear [that] kind of feedback like gentlemen like you two, it’s just really, really cool and really humbling to know that like, ‘yeah, I did the damn thing.’”
