Austin Theory On Potential Pairing With Dominik Mysterio: We’d Be Two Young Studs Taking Over WWE

Austin Theory would be interested in joining forces with Dominik Mysterio.

Theory has been in the spotlight on WWE RAW since he joined the red brand last October. He was paired with Vince McMahon on the show, and he went on to capture the WWE United States Championship. This past July, he won the Money in the Bank briefcase. Meanwhile, Dominik has been on the main roster since 2020; he made his in-ring debut in a high-profile match against Seth Rollins at SummerSlam. He teamed up with his father, Rey Mysterio, for two years until he turned on the legend and aligned with The Judgment Day at WWE Clash at the Castle.

Speaking with BT Sport, Theory was asked whether he had a word in Dominik’s ear before he betrayed his father and joined the stable. In response, the Money in the Bank contract holder described how Dominik has become a man and set up his entire career. He compared the two of them as two guys who are thriving despite being accused of making bad choices.

“You know what, I’ll say this. Dominik Mysterio, before that night, he went from being a boy to a man,” Theory said. “He did what he needed to do to set up his entire career, to set up his future. When you look at Dominik Mysterio now, there’s no telling what he’s gonna achieve. There’s no telling what he’s gonna accomplish. Let’s face it, the Judgment Day is unstoppable. People can say that he made a bad choice, he did this, he did that. But it’s so funny.

“To all the people that say we make these bad choices, look at Dominik Mysterio. He’s on Monday Night RAW with AJ Styles, beating AJ Styles, with the Judgment Day, running Monday Night RAW. Then look at me, everybody says I made a bad choice, but I’m the youngest Mr. Money in the Bank. Sure, everybody’s got a problem with me. Everybody’s got a problem with the Judgment Day. But it just is what it is. When you’re bad, and when you’re really bad, you’re just so good. That’s just how it goes. So did I have a little word in his ear? Probably [laughs].

When asked whether he’d want to explore a pairing with Dominik, Theory responded, “Absolutely. Just two 25-year-old studs taking over the WWE. Absolutely. I don’t see anything wrong with that.”

The former WWE United States Champion was also asked whether Dominik is one of the people he’s closest to backstage. Theory described how they came from different worlds, but they have bonded over their similar journeys as young stars in WWE.

“I would say so, for sure. We share a lot in common,” Theory said. “We both came from two different lives, but him pretty much being in the WWE since I think 2005, just being a kid, and me, I started watching wrestling around that time. So we’re just from two different worlds, but it all kind of came together.

“I think I find more of a connection with Dom just because us both being 25 and both being in WWE and dealing with everything and learning how to be really successful there at such a young age. I think it’s cool to have someone in the same group as you, or I would say there’s nobody in our group. It’s just two of us.”

On the October 24 episode of WWE RAW, Theory beat Mustafa Ali in a singles match, and Dominik compared himself to Eddie Guerrero. Dominik, Finn Balor, and Damian Priest will face The O.C. (AJ Styles, Karl Anderson, and Luke Gallows) at WWE Crown Jewel.
