Johnny Gargano: Going To Marvel Movies On Opening Night Lets Me Feel Like A Wrestling Fan

Johnny Gargano compares sitting in the crowd at the opening night showing for a Marvel movie to going to a wrestling show.

Gargano has previously stated that he’s a passionate fan of comic books and superheroes. He and his wife, Candice LeRae, named their son Quill, a clear nod to the Marvel character Peter Quill, or Star-Lord.

In an interview for Hasbro Pulse Con 2022, Marvel movies came up in the conversation, and the former NXT Champion noted that he likes to go to the opening night showings because it’s he closest he’ll get to feeling like a wrestling fan. He specifically brought up the the crowd’s reactions and the fun surprises viewers can enjoy together.

“I love to get tickets to the opening night showings for the movies because I feel like that’s as close as I’m gonna get to feeling like a wrestling fan,” Gargano said. “I’m in wrestling all the time, so I’m in the crowd and I can’t get caught up in like the reactions and the surprises. I think I’m too far deep in the wrestling side. So that’s my opportunity to actually go and sit in a crowd.

“I love jam-packed theaters. I love the ruckus, like rowdy Marvel fans on opening night that are just all pumped for the surprises, and then the surprises come, and everyone together collectively just goes crazy. Infinity War and Endgame, for me, those reactions, I’m always gonna remember those reactions. They were insane.”
