All Elite Wrestling Suspends Jeff Hardy Without Pay, Will Allow Him To Return After Substance Abuse Treatment

All Elite Wrestling has taken action against Jeff Hardy in response to his recent arrest.

On Tuesday, Tony Khan issued the following statement on behalf of All Elite Wrestling, announcing Jeff Hardy has been suspended without pay for an indefinite period of time. The statement noted that AEW will assist Hardy in finding treatment for his substance abuse issues, and would welcome him back if he could complete treatment and remain sober.

From AEW:

We were able to resume contact with Jeff Hardy this afternoon. AEW does not condone Jeff’s alleged behavior. We’ve made it clear to Jeff that we’ll assist him in getting treatment for substance abuse issues, which he has indicated that he’s open to receiving. In the interim, he is suspended without pay, and he can only return to AEW upon successfully completing treatment and maintaining his sobriety.

If you or a loved one needs help, please reach out to SAMHSA’s National Helpline: 1-800-662-HELP (4357).

Jeff Hardy was arrested in Florida and charged on multiple counts, including driving under the influence for the third time in ten years. Hardy’s blood alcohol concentration (BAC) level test showed results of 0.294 and 0.291, more than three times the legal limit (0.08) in Florida. Hardy was due in court today in relation to the charges, and he is no longer in custody.

Prior to issuing the statement confirming Hardy’s suspension, AEW had removed him from advertisements since news of his arrest broke. Hardy was scheduled to challenge for the AEW World Tag Team Championship on Wednesday’s episode of Dynamite and last worked for the company at Double Or Nothing on May 29.

Matt Hardy has since commented on Jeff’s arrest; you can read his statement on the matter at this link.
