Women’s Wrestling Wrap-Up: Alexa Bliss Added To Elimination Chamber, Pro-Wrestling EVE Hosts Weekend Celebration, A.Q.A Is All Elite

The past week in women’s wrestling has been absolutely jam-packed: Alexa Bliss takes the last spot in the Women’s Elimination Chamber, A.Q.A. signs with AEW, Pro-Wrestling EVE is set for a celebration weekend, and much more. Let’s break it down in this week’s edition of Women’s Wrestling Wrap-Up!

Elimination Chamber Updates

WWE is now set to feature three women’s matches on their upcoming Elimination Chamber pay-per-view scheduled for Saturday, February 19th in Saudi Arabia.

As covered last week in Women’s Wrestling Wrap-Up, the Women’s Elimination Chamber match returns for the first time since 2020. There, six participants will compete to become the number one contender for the RAW Women’s Championship. As of last week, only five of the six entrants had been confirmed, but now, the final entrant in the grueling match has been revealed.

Prior confirmed for the match were Rhea Ripley, Bianca Belair, Liv Morgan, Doudrop, and Nikki A.S.H. Many speculated the return of an undrafted superstar to fill the spot, but a fellow RAW roster member has since taken the final slot in the Women’s Elimination Chamber Match. Former RAW Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss now joins the fray of women vying for the number one contendership inside the unforgiving structure this Saturday.

Prior to beginning her journey back to RAW last month, Alexa Bliss was last seen on WWE programming at Elimination Chamber in September, following her loss to Charlotte Flair. There, “The Queen” would dismantle Bliss’ prized Lilly doll. This would leave Bliss distraught and written off of television for months.

After returning to RAW at the beginning of January, Alexa Bliss has undergone therapy following the loss of her Lilly doll. As documented on RAW, Bliss has gradually shifted away from the darker look she once held, to perhaps the return of “The Goddess”. For weeks, Bliss has learned to better control her anger, and now be at peace with the loss of Lilly.

In the final scene of therapy, Bliss’ therapist declared that she is now cured, or “at least as cured as she is going to be.” As a parting gift, the therapist presented a replica Lilly doll with the stuffing of the original Lilly inside. Bliss finally admitted that Lilly is really gone, and now Bliss is ready to return back to in-ring action.

However, the therapist lastly declared that he wants Bliss to keep Lilly (or the replica Lilly) by her side to confirm that she is really cured.

Alexa Bliss decides to enter the Elimination Chamber Match: Raw, Feb. 14, 2022

Alexa Bliss now enters the Elimination Chamber for the second time in her career. She previously appeared in the first-ever Women’s Elimination Chamber in 2018, successfully retaining her RAW Women’s Championship. She joins Liv Morgan as the only other woman with previous experience in the Elimination Chamber match.

With the final Elimination Chamber competitor now locked in, we also know who will be entering the match last. The five previously confirmed entrants competed in a lengthy gauntlet match on RAW where the winner would earn the opportunity to enter the Chamber last. It should be noted that Alexa Bliss did not compete in this gauntlet match, as her segment and announcement appeared later on RAW programming.

Rhea Ripley started it off against her former tag team partner, Nikki A.S.H. There, Ripley would win and advance on to then take on Liv Morgan. In a string of successful matches, Ripley outlasted Nikki, Liv, and Doudrop to reach the finals of the gauntlet match to then meet Bianca Belair. Ripley impressively endured over 44 minutes of ring time, before finally falling to Belair’s KOD finisher.

Officially now, Bianca Belair will enter the Women’s Elimination Chamber last on Saturday. She joins Rhea Ripley, Alexa Bliss Liv Morgan, Doudrop, and Nikki A.S.H in the chance to become the number one contender for the RAW Women’s Championship.

As mentioned last week, the RAW Women’s Championship will also be on the line in Saudi Arabia. Becky Lynch defends against WWE Hall of Famer Lita, in a first-time matchup. The winner of that match will presumably face the winner of the Women’s Elimination Chamber at WrestleMania this year. So, a lot is at stake this Saturday.

In addition, a third women’s match has now been added to Elimination Chamber.

On the Smackdown sides of the WWE, Ronda Rousey will challenge Charlotte Flair for the Smackdown Women’s Championship at WrestleMania, following Rousey’s victory at the Royal Rumble. Before these two go one-on-one though, they will collide in a tag team matchup at Elimination Chamber.

Following an incredible main event match between Charlotte Flair and Naomi last week on Smackdown, tensions ran high. Flair defeated Naomi with a Natural Selection to retain the Smackdown Women’s Championship, but Naomi found herself outnumbered after the match. Sonya Deville appeared and joined forces with Charlotte to beat down the former Smackdown Women’s Champion, until Ronda Rousey arrived to make the save. Flair and Deville then retreated up the ramp following a physical altercation between themselves and Rousey.

As a result, WWE officially created a third women’s match for their upcoming Elimination Chamber show. Ronda Rousey will now partner with Naomi to square off with the SmackDown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair and Sonya Deville.

In a moment of history-making, the 2022 Elimination Chamber event will mark the first time three women’s matches have been presented in Saudi Arabia. Additionally, twelve women are scheduled to be featured in those three matches.

WWE Elimination Chamber airs this Saturday, February 19th at 12pm est from Saudi Arabia.
